Basketball: Alba Berlin collects Euroleague

Basketball Bundesligaist Alba Berlin has collected its third defeat in the Euroleague. The German champion lost its own hall in front of 3145 spectators after a weak first half against the Spanish club BASKONIA Vitoria-Gasteiz with 76:80 (29:52).

Best Berliner Werfer were Luke Sikma with 19 and Oscar da Silva with 15 points. Trainer Israel Gonzalez had to renounce the injured Quartet Johannes Thiemann, Christ Koumadje, Ben Lammers and Marcus Eriksson. For this stood with Rokas Giedraitis, Simone Fontecchio, Jayson Granger and Landry Nnoko equal four former Berliners in the starting formation of the Basque. The Berliners made the first points, but it should remain the last leadership.

Alba could not build on the last good defensive services. Two days after the fight against Fenerbahce, the team was tired of increasing season. While the guests met many of their litters, the Berliners went little. Already at the beginning of the second quarter, the residue was first two digits (17:29). Shortly before the break he even fraud 24 points.

After change, however, Alba could boost himself, now fought for every ball, defended more intense and allowed the Spaniard barely simple baskets. So the host fought in the last section back to four meters. Baskonia whistled, but the catching hunt of the hosts was no longer rewarded in the end.
